The webinar Greenland at the Crossroads: Geopolitics, Resources and Business Opportunities took place on 2 February in collaboration with the German-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In recent weeks and months, Greenland has moved into the international spotlight. During the webinar, speakers addressed the growing strategic interest of the U.S. government — particularly in relation to security, access to natural resources and Arctic geopolitics — and discussed how this underlines Greenland’s increasing geopolitical and economic importance. Greenland’s role for Europe was also examined, both as an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark and as a key player in the future of security, energy and critical raw materials.
The webinar provided insights into the current political and institutional situation in Greenland, its role within the Arctic region and transatlantic relations, the economic landscape and key trading partners, as well as concrete opportunities and challenges for European companies considering engagement or investment in Greenland.
