From 22 to 25 September 2026, the German-Danish Chamber of Commerce (GDCC), Inc. in Copenhagen, on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), will organize a four-day delegation trip for United Nations (UN) procurement officers and technical staff to WindEnergy Hamburg. The delegation trip is tailored specifically to buyers in the wind energy sector and aims to provide insights into wind energy, showcase innovative products and developments, and facilitate networking with German companies and industry experts.

Germany’s Wind Energy Industry:

At a time when climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource scarcity are among the most urgent global challenges, wind energy is considered a central pillar of Germany's sustainable energy transition. Today, it is one of the most important renewable energy sources in the country. With a share of around 31% of total electricity generation, wind power supplied more electricity than any other single energy source in 2024. This also makes the wind power industry a major employer. In 2023, 124,600 people were employed in the onshore and offshore sectors.

Technological innovations and sustainability initiatives are key drivers of development in the wind energy industry. According to the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA), wind power is one of the lowest-emission energy generation technologies. The topic of wind energy is closely linked to Agenda 2030 and the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
